Galleria De Boracay

My two main factors when renting cheap accommodations in Boracay are its cleanliness and its proximity to the beach. The fist one is a no-brainer, especially if you’re tagging the whole clan with you, but the second one can be optional. I like my beach lodging to be right there at the beach itself, my room just a hop away from the sand and the sea—budget permitting. But if pressed for funds, well, you compromise somehow. And that’s actually how we ended up booking a room at the Galleria de Boracay.

This inn is almost in between the main road and Boracay White Beach’s Station 3. It actually has a pretty good location, if you don’t mind that the beach doesn’t start right at your doorstep. It’s less than thirty seconds by foot from the road, which means buying goods from convenience stores is a breeze and inexpensive. It sits right by the Original Talipapa, a market of sorts selling souvenirs. And it’s also near carinderia eateries, should you need to scrimp on food spending.

In terms of its proximity to the beach, it’s about three minutes away via a maze of narrow side streets. The path opens at the Station 3 side of Boracay White Beach, rigth  at the corner of Crown Regency Beach Resort Boracay. This was also where we booked our Boracay island hopping tour, which they also gave discounts for.

Galleria De Boracay Dorm Room
DORM ROOM GOOD FOR TWELVE PERSONS

We stayed for two nights at the Galleria de Boracay, arriving past midnight on our first. Since we were twelve in the group, I decided to simply book one of their Dorm Rooms [CHECK ROOM RATES & AVAILABILITY]. Divided into each of us, the rate was jaw-droppingly cheap!

The inn is actually a set of rooms fronting an open central courtyard where the dining hall area is. The room I picked has four double-decker beds, each one good for two persons, and with two en suite toilet and baths. The lavatory is set outside to avoid queues at the toilet. With its price, I’m really not expecting hotel quality, but to be fair, our room was decent, clean, has air-conditioning, and even a small television with cable!

I actually brought a small towel and toiletries with me, expecting our room wouldn’t have one, but surprisingly, they do provide them at the inn.

Since breakfast isn’t included on the rates, we cooked our own on the first morning after buying some canned sardines, bread and hotdogs on the grocery near the inn. They impose a cooking fee of PHP100.00 per session, which isn’t that bad since they also provide all the utensils, pans and whatnots. On our second morning, we simply ate at the nearby carinderia hawking traditional silog fares plus a few more.

Their surprisingly cozy in-house coffee shop, Café Francisco, actually fronts the inn. It became our hang out place when not on the beach. We’d ask for a cup of hot water, put in our 3-in-1 coffee and enjoy the free wi-fi. For its price, Galleria de Boracay is a commendable place to stay in, especially for big groups looking for an affordable almost beach-front place to stay in Boracay.
