CAVITE | Breakfast at Ahy Foodhouse Tagaytay
Wednesday, September 21, 2011Travelling can really put a big dent on one’s pocket and I’m grateful that in our country we can save up a lot on food expenses by patronizing the ever reliable carinderia’s along the city streets. One such place is the Ahy Foodhouse in Tagaytay City.
Besides Mushroom Burger, the classic Tagaytay stopover; this is our usual breakfast joint when visiting the cool city in Cavite.
Located right in front of the big restaurant chains of Tagaytay, I chanced upon this place when it was still very unassuming and small. I was hooked and had been a regular since then.
Imagine our surprise when we saw how big it is now. They surely have come a long way, business must be booming. Not really surprising since their location is topnotch, and their food, although super greasy (which I like), is more than passable for a carinderia.
But I noticed that along with their expansion, their food price also increased. The old Php55.00 price tags for Silog meals were gone now; it’s now risen to Php70.00++. Good thing the serving size is still very generous or I would have considered them expensive now.
I checked their menu, and aside from the usual Tapsi breakfast fares, they now also serve pancits, bulalo and goto. If you prefer to have burgers, Burger Machine is practically a step away and they don’t mind if you eat them in their place (I guess as long as you order from them too).
Next time you find yourself in a budget fix in Tagaytay, do give the carinderia’s a chance. They might not have the expansive view of Taal Lake and the dining experience might not be the most romantic, but hey, at least you can buy a few more Tagaytay shirts with the moolah you save.
