LANAO DEL NORTE | Tita Fannies ~ Iligan’s Best Lechon Manok
Thursday, October 10, 2013In Manila, lechon manoks are synonymous with either Andoks or Baliwag. There are a few others competing for the title, but those two are the ones really going head to head as the king of roasted chickens. Step some 1,461 kilometers from Manila and into Iligan City and you’d find a different landscape when it comes to lechon manok. Here, roasted chickens are synonymous with only one name, Tita Fannies Liempo & Chicken Haus.
Nestled on a two-storey building on a small alley in Iligan City, Tita Fannies has been spreading roasted goodness to Iliganons since its humble inception fourteen years ago. Looking at the number of franchises it now has and its posh restaurant interiors, you wouldn’t think that its first store was made from nipa and bamboo materials.

But besides roasted chickens, Tita Fannies also offers the crispiest pork liempo in town. As a testament to how good it is, the platefuls served to us were gone faster than you can open your quadcore phone’s Instagram app.

Good thing Tita Fannies has got a few more dishes up her sleeves, or shall I say kitchen. Meaty pork barbecues (₱15.00 per stick) were soon served on our table plus their Bila-Overload (₱445.00) platter of lumpiang shanghai, kinilaw na malasugue, liempo cuts, and their curious pancit guisado which has a toppings of scrambled fried egg and spring onions (hmmmm, I wonder if they have this at Pancit Center Pasig).
For desserts, we were served with their mango float (₱44.00). I’m no expert when it comes to sweets, but I’m guessing this is some kind of tiramisu with mixed with sweet mango. A serving of their delectable leche flan (₱32.00) soon followed. I am officially full.

And I thought that was it until a tray full of halo-halo arrived. Tita Fannies’ grand finale, their Halo Halo sa Buko (₱78.00)! It totally made me forget I was full.
An empty coconut shell filled with gulaman, brown beans, macapuno, langka, sweet beans, bananas, and topped with scoops of ube ice cream and pinipig. The servings were enormous that we had to share just to finish everything.
Tita Fannies Liempo and Chicken Haus certainly filled the calories we lost for our whole day of chasing waterfalls around Iligan City. Excellent ambience, friendly service, huge servings, and more than anything else, good and affordable food. It was everything we asked for, plus more.

ReplyDeleteMasarap talaga Kath :)
DeleteTita Fannie's lechon manok and liempo are definitely delicious. They had several branches in Cagayan de Oro, too bad they closed down.
ReplyDeleteAwww that's too bad. I do hope their branches in Iligan are still open?
