PALAWAN | Coron Westown Resort Review
Sunday, July 13, 2014Warm hues lit the sky as I emerged from our ground floor hotel room. Our balcony extends directly to the resort’s pool and it was amazing. En route to Coron Westown Resort, we were debating who has the better hotel for the night, the group being divided into two hotels that evening.
I was not aware that there’s a really good hotel just a few minutes from the heart of Coron’s downtown. I knew there’s a nice one near the town plaza, but a hotel of this caliber in town is new to me.
Coron Westown Resort is only rated as a three-star hotel, but don’t let that fool you.
EXPLORE: CORON TRAVEL GUIDE
From the lobby, one can see that this is not your run-of-the-mill hotel. The design is classy and it looks really expensive. In fact, I probably cannot afford to stay here if not for the PHILTOA peeps who footed the bill for our Coron escapade.
Opened just a year before, the resort has a total five different room types; Deluxe, Superior, Premium, Premium Deluxe, and Family.
And as customary, we checked each of these rooms.
Besides the usual mini-bar and safe, the Premium Deluxe Room has a king-sized bed, a comfy love-seat, a La-Z-Boy, and a 40” flat-screen TV. You can probably play tag inside if you want, it is that spacious.
The toilet and bath is nicely designed too, with tasteful marine life sculptures complimenting its marble tile walls. The main draw of this area is the bath tub that looks out directly to the bedroom, perfect for couples who want some romantic moments.
But of course we didn’t stay there, Coron Westown Resort’s Premium Deluxe Room cost around ₱4,800.00—inclusive of breakfast. Instead, we bedded down at their much more affordable Deluxe Room which is pegged at ₱3,800.00 per night.
What I like about the De Luxe Room is that it has its own veranda that opens directly to the resort’s pool area.
Coron Westown Resort may not be located right beside the beach, like most hotels in town, but what it lacks in fine white sand, it makes up for in not one, but three beautiful swimming pools. A regular one, a kiddie pool and my favorite, the ten-foot deep dive pool.

But before stripping off and jumping to the water, I restrained myself for breakfast first. The resort offers buffet for early risers. The food was alright, nothing spectacular except for their special fried danggit which is meatier than your usual ones. It is one of the best I’ve tried.
And then it was time for a swim. Laying down my clothes near one of the giant crab sculptures near the pool, like a child, I excitedly ran and jumped at the ten-foot deep dive pool. It was so deep that my foot didn’t even touch bottom. Coming to the surface, it was now obvious to me which of the group got the best hotel resort for the night.

This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel to stay in. I was surprised when we actually got to the hotel how well managed it was and how CLEAN it was. The rooms were nicely decorated, the bathroom and shower was very clean and very well designed. You can hang things and there are plenty of shelf space. I was really reluctant at first booking the hotel because it was only rated as a 3 star but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't rate as a 5. This place is just very relaxing. I love Coron. Did a 5 day 4 night tour and I am very happy and content with my visit. I will surely come back again. I cannot even begin to describe my vacation......but all I can say is......come an visit this PARADISE! You will not be disappointed. From the hotel staff to the tour guides to the people of Coron....my hats off to you. My family and I truly enjoyed this little piece of paradise.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it didn't look like a 3-star hotel, right?!
