We’re always on the lookout for the most affordable lodging possible whenever we visit a place. During our past travels to the celebrated Boracay Island, we found what could possibly be the cheapest beachfront accommodation along the Boracay White Beach.

DIVING AND SNORKELING EQUIPMENT AT WHITE BEACH DIVERS HOSTEL BORACAY

Dubbed as the White Beach Divers Hostel, it is located (as expected with budget lodgings on the island) at Station 3—quite a walk away from the party happenings at Station 2. As their name implies, they’re on the White Beach, they’re a diving outfit and they have a hostel. There.

The hostel’s façade isn’t really something you’d take a picture of and show to your architect I-want-this-to-be-my-beach-house kind of thing. In fact, you’d hardly notice it if not for the plastered 400-PESO ROOM, board near their door.

That certainly got our attention.

That price was actually for their lean season, which, luckily it was during our visit. And that price is not per person, but for the whole two-person room, so it’s really just 200 pesos for each of us. The downside is, there is no air-conditioning and it has no en suite toilet and bath. Not a bad trade-off if you’re on a budget while in Boracay. This island is expensive.

We were billeted in one of their double-bed rooms located on the second floor. It was, surprisingly, very spacious. It has an electric fan in lieu of air-conditioning. And another surprise, a small television! Three cheers for small victories!

THE DORM ROOM, PRETTY BASIC

The toilet and bath is located on the ground floor near the stairwell, but we never did mind as there was hardly any queue every time we use it. I’m just not sure how the situation is during peak season.

On the far end of the ground floor, right after a small courtyard, are the dorm rooms. Judging from its looks alone, I’m pretty sure they’re letting this one for a much cheaper price.

WHITE BEACH DIVER HOSTEL’S BORACAY BEACH FRONT

White Beach Divers Hostel actually has its own bar and restaurant, but we prefer to go out and eat our dinner at the nearby barbecue stands, which sells cheaper food fares and has better beach ambience. We do eat our breakfast in front of the hostel (they don’t have complimentary breakfast, by the way), at the chairs and tables set up along the beach front. We simply ask for hot water, borrow some bowls from the kitchen, and have our instant noodles, coffee, and pan de sal by the beach.

THE CHEAPEST BEER IN BORACAY IS SERVED HERE

And just before sunset, right before we head out to Station 2 to party, we avail of their happy hour, which has their Red Horse beer running at just Php30.00 per bottle. Now, I don’t know if anyone can beat that. I’m telling you, this is the place to stay to if you want to stretch you money while in paradise.
