TRAVEL ESSENTIALS | Pacsafe x Metrosafe
Wednesday, August 10, 2016Pacsafe, the world leader in anti-theft bag technology recently launched their first ever flagship store, not only in the Philippines, but throughout the globe at Makati’s Glorietta 5 mall. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the event, and with it, we were given a Pacsafe bag to review too—the Metrosafe 150 GII body sling bag.
THE FIRST EVER PACSAFE STORE IN THE WORLD OPENS AT GLORIETTA 5 |
The first thing I look for, and I guess most people too, in a bag is its style. Does it look cool enough, is it too preppy, does it stand out? With the Metrosafe, it passed with flying colors. I also love the textured 100% nylon fabric and its earthy tones. I’m not too keen on bags that looks too festive.
PACSAFE’S METROSAFE 150 G2 |
The bag is a good companion for urban travelers. Excellent for packing your documents and laptops for work, school, meetings, or even if you just want to hang out in a café and you need your laptop with you. It’s a great bag to own, especially for a freelancer like me who needs my laptop everywhere I go.
THE MAIN COMPARTMENT |
The bag has two compartments. The main one fits my 11” laptop perfectly and I could probably even throw in an iPad in there too. The secondary one, which is set on the outer shell of the bag, is a smaller space for documents, credit cards, pens and other accessories. For cellphones, there’s a detachable mini-pocket which you velcro on to the strap.
SECURITY HOOKS FOR THE ZIPPERS |
RFID TECHNOLOGY FOR YOUR CREDIT CARDS |
But as with Pacsafe, there’s more to the bag than meets the eye. The Metrosafe is set with the standard anti-theft technology that the brand is known for. It has an exoMesh steel wire embedded into the fabric of the bag and its strap, making it slash-proof, security hooks for both its zippers and a RFID safe technology to prevent security thieves from scanning your credit card information.
PACSAFE STORE LAUNCH AT GLORIETTA 5 |
Before Pacsafe’s store launch ended, one of the brand’s co-founder, Magnus McGlashan, went up the stage and announced that they are partnering with Bataan’s tourism board to help them with their pawikan conservation efforts (see Bataan Pawikan Festival), something they’ve also been doing on other parts of the world. I was initially puzzled over the connection between bags and sea turtles, but then I remembered their logo, a sea turtle! The guy explained that not only is Pacsafe committed to bringing safer travel experiences for all the global nomads out there, but they’re also taking in efforts in improving the world. Now that’s a global brand worth supporting.
