THAILAND | Holiday Inn Krabi ~ Post Full Moon Party Chill Time
Tuesday, May 31, 2016Refreshed from a dip on the pool, we sat on the third floor balcony of our room and watched as the sky turn from deep oranges to electric blues. We sipped our hot coffee, reminiscing the party that was, laughing at all the crazy things that happened the day before at the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan.
FROM KOH PHANGAN EN ROUTE TO KRABI |
THE GROUNDS AT HOLIDAY INN KRABI |
We arrived at the Holiday Inn Resort at Ao Nang, a beachside town in the province of Krabi, past noontime. Dirty, tired, dazed, and full of bedbug bites from traveling all the way from Koh Phangan. We left the party island just as the sun rose—boarding a van, a ferry, a bus, and finally, another van. Crossing the eastern to western seaboard of Thailand with hardly any sleep, it was definitely one of the longest transfers we’ve ever done.
The good thing about it was that the whole TeamRH gang was with us all the way. And there’s never a dull moment when traveling with them.
HOLIDAY INN’S SPACIOUS AND AIRY LOBBY |
The four-star Holiday Inn Resort was a breath of fresh air after the Full Moon Party experience. We no longer have to stay in a cramped hostel, no longer had to endure crappy toilets and cheap food. From the resort’s airy lobby, we knew we’d picked the right hotel to recuperate in after all the craziness of the past few days.
POOL WITH DIRECT ACCESS TO ROOMS |
THERE’S A BAR, BUT WE SWORE OFF DRINKING AFTER THE FULL MOON PARTY, LOL |
Since we were quite a big group, we were separately billeted on different rooms of the resort. We thought our rooms would be close enough to each other, but we thought wrong. Holiday Inn Ao Nang is huge. Sprawling on a four-acre area, it is composed of clusters of buildings with rooms clocking in at 173 in total. With two swimming pools, a bar, a restaurant, spa, and conference halls, this place is indeed colossal.
WE HAVE THE CORNER ROOM! |
Together with C, we were billeted at their Deluxe Room [CHECK RATES & AVAILABILITY]. We were initially envious with one of our friends’ room, which has direct access to the swimming pool, but our envy quickly dissipated when we saw ours.
Located on the third floor, it has a superb panoramic view of the whole resort and we can even glimpse the ocean from the balcony. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that the balcony dividers were too low and guests can actually peer in on other rooms, a thing which could be easily remedied by the resort.
VERY AIRY, WE LOVE OUR ROOM! |
MINIMALIST INDUSTRIAL INTERIORS AT HOLIDAY INN KRABI |
The interiors were no less impressive than the view from the veranda. With a high ceiling, modern industrial design infused with wood accents, and floor to ceiling glass windows, it was as spacious as a resort room can be. And, of course, it has all the amenities one would expect from Holiday Inn rooms—flatscreen cable-TV, a full closet, coffee-making facilities, electronic safe, and fast and free Internet Wi-Fi.
LOW TIDE AT AO NANG BEACH IN FRONT OF HOLIDAY INN |
While we initially thought the resort would be fronting the beach, we found that we still needed to cross the road to access Ao Nang Beach. To be honest, I wasn’t really impressed by it, so it really doesn’t bother me that much. It does present good sunset opportunities though, with colorful long-tail boats docked along its shore and towering karsts as backgrounds.
THAI HAWKERS NEAR THE RESORT |
We swore off alcohol for our first night in Ao Nang and simply contented ourselves into eating at the many restaurants and hawker places at the nearby night market. We were also able to book a Krabi island tour the next day, so we were quite happy to sleep without beer addling our already muddled brains, lol.
HOLIDAY INN’S INNASIA RESTAURANT |
BREAKFAST BUFFET WITH BACONS! |
The next morning, we rose early and headed to Holiday Inn’s InnAsia Restaurant for the complimentary breakfast buffet. After too much pad thai and chicken fried rice in Koh Phangan, I am definitely ready for my crispy bacons!

Holiday in krabi is such a nice idea,I Think ko lanta is the best for trip, But if you want to enjoy the sea gypsy, underwater caves and make your day with mouthwatering seafood. You can contact ferry shuttle provider “Andaman Ferry Service”. Their services are just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAre their transfer services cheap?
