THAILAND | Novotel Phuket Vintage Park Resort
Thursday, June 09, 2016The pool was superlatively huge. From the balcony of our fifth floor room, we looked down at the people swimming along its blue-green surface. We took our time enjoying the complimentary coffee and tea, relaxing our tired bodies before heading down and experiencing its warm waters for ourselves.
THE BIGGEST POOL IN PHUKET IS IN NOVOTEL VINTAGE PARK RESORT |
Indeed, Novotel Phuket Vintage Park Resort’s 2,000 square-meter swimming pool is the biggest in the whole of Phuket. Located along its atrium, with all of the rooms’ balcony facing it, it is no doubt, Novotel’s main feature and asset—the place being located just a few minutes away from the Patong Beach area.
NOODLES AT NOVOTEL’S THE SQUARE RESTAURANT |
We checked in at the resort for our last few days in Thailand. We’ve been through Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, Ao Nang for the Krabi island tour, Koh Lanta for its relative peace, Koh Phi Phi for the Maya Bay tour, and finally, our last leg in Thailand before flying out to Sri Lanka—Phuket. We were here to finally rest and relax.
PHUKET’S INFAMOUS BANGLA ROAD AT NIGHT |
The resort is located on a busy street parallel to Patong Beach—which is a couple of minutes away by foot. It is closer to the night markets in the area and also just a stone throw’s away from the town’s infamous Bangla Road, Phuket’s party center.
NOVOTEL VINTAGE PARK’S SPACIOUS LOBBY |
The four-star Novotel Phuket Vintage Park is one of the six Novotels in Phuket, each one strategically located within the city. The resort’s design is very Thai; soaring roofs, open-aired halls and lots and lots of Thai imageries set along its various nooks. I specially adore the huge bronze mural at the lobby.
OUR ROOM IN NOVOTEL PHUKET |
We were billeted at their Superior Room [CHECK RATES & AVAILABILITY] and were lucky enough to be situated at the higher floors of the resort where we have a sweeping view of their atrium.
VERY SPACIOUS, INDEED |
The room itself is quite spacious. Styled in wooden motifs, the floors are made of wood planks and the walls decorated with wooden panels. Right at the top of the king-size bed, a beautiful Thai painting is set on a recessed alcove.
SEPARATE CORNER BATH TUB AND SHOWER STALL |
Aside from the nice en suite toilet and bath, it has a flatscreen cable TV, mini bar, sofa, and a work station. And yes, a balcony overlooking the pool.
For dining options, they have The Square, Novotel’s all-day restaurant which serves both International and Asian cuisine, the Night Blooming Lobby Lounge, where guests can hang out and snack on complimentary Asian delicacies at select times of the day, and the Velvet Pool Bar, the pool’s swim-up bar.
THE NIGHT BLOOMING LOBBY LOUNGE |
DELICIOUS THAI SNACKS AT THE LOBBY LOUNGE |
We were able to try the dishes on their lobby lounge and The Square during our stay. The former serves free snacks at around six in the evening. The choices are a bit limited but what they have are quite superb. They also have free drinks, but no alcohol though.
SEAFOOD BUFFET NIGHT |
SHRIMPS, CRABS, SLIPPER LOBSTERS |
At The Square, we availed of their seafood buffet one evening. The seafood tray was located right outside the restaurant where a chef grills your catch of choice, be it lobsters, prawns, crabs—whatever your heart desires. Inside, a selection of Asian and International dishes are laid out on their buffet table. I have to say, everything is excellent.
THEY HAVE CRISPY BACONS! |
The same can be said of their breakfast buffet, which is complimentary for all guests staying at Novotel Phuket Vintage Park. Indeed, similar to our stay the previous year at Novotel Platinum in Bangkok, they never fail to deliver when it comes to good food.
THE NEARBY PATONG BEACH |
ONE OF THE STREETS ALONG PATONG |
PARTYING AT BANGLA ROAD |
But more than the food, our room, and the pool, what sets our experience here is, of course, Phuket itself. During the mornings, we’d be at the numerous markets, buying all sorts of souvenirs. In the afternoons, we’d usually find ourselves by the beach, walking along the endless shore of Patong Beach. And evenings, we’re of course at Bangla Road, partying the night away.
A SOOTHING MASSAGE TO END OUR THAILAND TRIP |
And after days of all that, we get to chill at Novotel’s In-Balance Spa on our last day for their award-winning Thai massage. Our farewell to Thailand can’t be more complete.
