AKLAN | The Ferra Premier ~ Our Home in Boracay
Sunday, September 03, 2017It was an hour before midnight when we arrived on the island. Tired but excited, we went straight to our appointed lodging in Ferra Premier Boracay to rest a bit before heading to the White Beach to party our first night away. Or that was supposedly the plan.
FERRA HOTEL’S TASTEFULLY DECORATED LOBBY |
It has always been like this for our Boracay weekend getaways; take the Friday afternoon flight from Manila, arrive early evening at the Kalibo Airport, then take the two-hour ride to Boracay. It is tiring, but heck, with very cheap flight tickets, who could say no to Boracay!
RUF RESTOBAR AT THE ROOF DECK |
Before checking in, we proceeded straight to Ferra Premier’s 4th floor roof deck, the RUF Resto Bar, for some chow. We’ve tried their offerings before during our previous Boracay outings, and we really liked their Asian dishes—especially their nasi goreng.
SIZZLING SISIG ~ PHP 240.00 | BEEF STEAK ~ PHP 390.00 |
The restaurant has seen some changes since we last went; the garden sofas have now been moved to the open area, with the dining tables now set beneath the covered trellis. The ambience is still the same, however, and the food, still supremely satisfying.
BANANA LANGKA SPRING ROLL ~ PHP 110.00 |
We went a little overboard on our orders at the time; sizzling sisig, F Wings (buffalo wings), calamares, crispy tilapia fillet, beef steak, chopsuey, and banana langka spring rolls (turon) with ice cream.
The winners for this round went to their sisig, with its crispy outer skin and tender meaty insides, the flavorful and very tender beef steak, and the turon. Yes, the turon. You’ll never look at turon the same way again after trying out Ferra Premier’s.
A few bottles of Red Horse Beer later and we’re finally in our rooms. And what a room we have!
ONE BEDROOM LOFT, I LOVE THE WORKSTATION! |
We were billeted on Ferra Premier’s One Bedroom Loft at the third floor. It’s a high-ceilinged room with a mini-kitchenette, a toilet and bath, and a living area at the ground floor. The bedroom—accessed by a tastefully done wooden stairs—is at the mezzanine.
It is freakin’ huge and it was freakin’ amazing.
A KITCHENETTE FOR REHEATING FOOD, AND OF COURSE, TEA AND COFFEE |
WELL-DESIGNED TOILET & BATH, JUST TAKE CARE WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR AS IT IS HEAVY |
And this was where we started to notice the hotel’s knack for individualized service. Instead of the usual welcome treats like platters of chocolates and fruits, a bucket of Red Horse Beer was what greeted us as we entered the door. These guys had us pegged to a tee.
BEDROOM HALL AT THE MEZZANINE |
IT HAS ITS OWN AIRCON UNIT AND FLATSCREEN TV |
We were so happy that we drank the whole bucket down to oblivion right there and then—totally forgetting about the party we’re supposed to be going to at the White Beach that night.
Fully inebriated, we fitfully slept our first night in Boracay away.
FERRA’S MODERN ASIA RESTAURANT AT THE GROUND FLOOR |
Well, you might think, well, you’re bloggers, so the special treatment. We actually asked this with the management and they said that they do like to surprise their guests, especially those who book ahead and are celebrating special occasions during their stay.
COMPLIMENTARY BUFFET BREAKFAST |
OPTIONAL PLATED BREAKFAST FOR THOSE WHO BOOKED A ROOM WITHOUT BREAKFAST |
OPTIONAL BREAKFAST SETS STARTING AT PHP180.00; BIBIMBAMP, BEEF TAPA, GARLIC MILKFISH |
And we actually got to see this firsthand during breakfast the next day. We were happily munching away on our tocino and boneless bangus at their Modern Asia Restaurant’s buffet when a host of Ferra Premier staff suddenly appeared with balloons and a small cake for one of the guests who were celebrating his birthday. Needless to say, the guy was extremely surprised.
I LOVE FERRA’S LAP POOL, THIS ACTUALLY WORKS FOR GUESTS! |
The restaurant, located on the ground floor, sits right beside Ferra Premier’s lap pool. With Boracay’s uber precious real estate, it was good that the resort was able to squeeze in a swimming area within its grounds. It was especially nice since they don’t front a beach.
BULABOG BEACH IS FIVE MINUTES AWAY BY FOOT |
Ferra Hotel is located on the island’s Lake Area, it’s right between the Boracay White Beach and its rougher neighbor, Bulabog Beach. White Beach’s Station Two, passing through D’Mall, is about ten minutes by foot, and Bulabog is just five minutes away. Its location, really, is actually quite good, if you don’t mind having a non-beachfront hotel. A few of the guests we met actually take tricycle rides to the White Beach, which is a bit expensive. Us, we walk.
BORACAY’S WHITE BEACH, TEN MINUTES AWAY BY FOOT FROM THE HOTEL |
During our long weekend stay in Ferra, we visited both the White and Bulabog Beach several times. We really didn’t have any set Boracay itinerary in mind, we just wanted to chill out, doing nothing in particular.
DROPPED BY MOUNT LUHO, ABOUT TEN MINUTES AWAY BY TRICYCLE FROM FERRA |
We visited Mount Luho, the highest point in Boracay, for a panoramic view of the island, went to the farthest point of Station 3 at the White Beach, checked out the windsurfing action at Bulabog, had a sunset dinner at West Cove Boracay, and of course, we partied every night (except the first, lol) like there was no tomorrow.
WE BOOKED A CHARTERED BOAT TO ROMBLON’S CARABAO ISLAND WITH FERRA’S HELP |
We even went as far as Romblon, with our Carabao Island day tour, asking help from the hotel staff in securing a boat that we can charter for a day to take us around the island. Talk about having no itinerary, lol.
THE FAMOUS BORACAY SUNSET |
And through all these, we always came back at Ferra Premier, not only to rest, but to eat.
On our last night in Boracay, right after our tiring adventure at Carabao Island, we again went back to the Ruf RestoBar for another round of Asian food fest.
NASI GORENG ~ PHP 285.00 |
This time, we asked for one our favorite Indonesia rice dishes, nasi goreng, to go with their grilled sausage, tuna kinilaw, steamed tilapia, chicken binakol, fish & chips, lechon kawali, and their venerable satay sampler.
LECHON KAWALI ~ PHP 250.00 |
I would like to say that the lechon kawali—which is my usual favorite—was the best of the set; it is quite superb, but the Visayan binakol—a tinola-like dish infused with coconut juice—was just the bomb. It was overwhelmingly good, the whole gang agrees with me on this.
CHICKEN BINAKOL ~ PHP350.00 |
While happily munching on our dinner, we were told that Ferra is actually gonna open a second branch soon, just a few meters away from the original one. We were shown a few photos of the proposed Ferra Hotel and Garden Suites and its interiors are even more sophisticated than Ferra Premier’s.
ONE OF THE ROOMS AT THE FERRA II BORACAY |
I’ve had my hesitations when my friends told me that we’re gonna be staying at Ferra Premier Hotel, knowing that it’s not by the beach. But everything changed even just after a night’s stay. I’ve never felt as comfortable and as well taken cared of during any of my stays in Boracay, ever. Ferra is indeed home.

Hi Gretchen! Ferra Hotel's interiors are indeed beautifully decorated! They don't have any balconies for smoking though and their rooms are all non-smoking.
DeleteHaha, going to Mt. Luho is more like climbing up three flights of stairs than a hike. :D
