THAILAND | Windsor Suites Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit
Tuesday, July 11, 2017“It looks like a village of sorts,” I kid C, as we walked along the corridors of Windsor Suites Hotel Bangkok on our way to our room. The hallway, punctured with cute framed curtained windows for each room, indeed looks like a campy village. We stopped on our designated room—with its own window too—scanned our keycards, opened the door, and were unbelievably surprised. The room is beautifully designed; modern, but with hints of Windsor’s history.
THE WINDSOR SUITES IN BANGKOK |
We were on the last part of our Thailand tour, four more days before we fly to Vietnam, and after staycationing at Hilton Sukhumvit, doing the Kanchanaburi Death Railway Tour, and shopping around in Bangkok, it was time for another staycation, this time at Windsor Suites Sukhumvit.
The hotel is indeed one of the older of its kind in Bangkok. Having more than fifty years of service history, I bet they’ve now perfected the art of hospitality.

CHECKING IN |
The hotel is huge. Coming from Sukhumvit Road, one can immediately see the hotel’s 26-storey facade from the street. Inside, their lobby cum restaurant is equally gynormous. Before arriving at the front desk, a slew of parasols set with cushioned sofas line an elevated platform—the hotel’s in house café.
It was a quick check in and we were soon being whisked to the 16th floor of the hotel and into our room.
OUR ROOM, THE WINDSOR SUITE AT WINDSOR SUITE! |
We were billeted on the Windsor Suite (true to its name, all the rooms here are suites!), which is really spacious [CHECK DISCOUNTED RATES ONLINE]. It has its own mini-living room, separated by a hallway the toilet and bath from the main bedroom.
TOILET AND BATH WITH GLASS WALLS |
The living room has comfy couches, bar, coffee-making facilities, mini-fridge, and flatscreen television. Even without a view, we have more hang-out hours here than at the bedroom—the sofas are just so comfortable! The bedroom, which has an awesome view of Bangkok’s skyline, was mainly used for its main function, resting and sleeping.
BEDROOM AREA |
WITH A GRAND VIEW OF BANGKOK |
The design is, as I mentioned previously, quite contemporary. Given the hotel’s facade and lobby design, you’ll get the impression that its rooms would have a more classic decor. But no, the room is brightly decorated in clean whites and creams with splashes of moss green as highlights. Very modern, but still, somehow, you can still glean hints of its past classic design.
THE EXECUTIVE LOUNGE WHERE WE USUALLY HAVE OUR BREAKFAST |
ROOFTOP SWIMMING POOL AND BAR |
GOLDEN PALACE CHINESE RESTAURANT AT THE SECOND FLOOR |
SUPERB DIMSUM BUFFET |
SPA ON OUR LAST DAY IN BANGKOK |
Unlike our stay in Hilton, this time, we really have no itinerary. At last.
The only thing we did while staying at Windsor Suites beside eating on their daily buffet breakfast at the executive lounge (kudos to the lady at the egg station for always making me superb and legit Thai omelet every single morning), swimming on their gardeny rooftop pool, eating at the Golden Palace, their extremely good Chinese dimsum restaurant (the best dimsum I’ve had, not counting Binondo’s Wai Ying), and having a soothing Windsor Signature Massage at their spa, was, well, err, nothing.
BALCONY FROM THE RESTAURANT OVERLOOKING THE LOBBY |
If you count going to Silom to buy a lens for my camera, shopping at the Rod Fai Night Market, and going out at night to party at Khao San Road as something, well, then we did quite a lot while in Windsor Suites. It was the perfect place to rest while prepping for our flight to Vietnam.
