AUSTRALIA | Rhapsody Resort, a Three-Day Staycation in Gold Coast
Thursday, June 07, 2018It was way past midnight when we arrived at Surfers Paradise in Gold Coast. A few hours ago, we’re baby sitting at G’s crib in Ballina, trying extremely hard to put L to sleep at their living room sofa, and now we’re on a totally different kind of living room, one seventeen stories up from the street, with a full view of the raging pacific from a floor to ceiling window. It was swanky as heck, but we miss L.
Similar to our previous lodging, Byron Bay Hotel and Apartments, we had to check ourselves in by following the email instructions given by Rhapsody Resort—input a code on a deposit box outside the lobby, take our key, access the lobby, then our room. Problem was we had a hard time finding the said box. It turned out we were at the wrong entrance, lol.
WE WERE ALL SURPRISED AT HOW SPACIOUS OUR ROOM WAS! |
After much confusion, we eventually made it into our room, a Two-Bedroom Ocean View Apartment. And it was a stunner. The suite is superlatively spacious. A four-seater couch sits in the middle facing a big-ass flatscreen television, at the back is a full-blown kitchen with everything we needed to cook our favorite Cole’s corned beef stash, heat the spicy Spanish sardines M brought from Manila, and steam our very own white rice. Very Asian, I know.
THE DINING NOOK, OR FOR US, OUR DRINKING NOOK |
A round dining table sits on one side—this is where we would be hanging out the most, guzzling the left-over beer we hoarded from a liquor store in Byron Bay. Our drinking binge would’ve been more perfect at the balcony overlooking the ocean, but the weather wasn’t cooperating with us, it was extremely windy at the time, with rain pouring every now and then.

TOILET AND BATH WITH A VIEW OF THE CITY, IF YOU SO CHOOSES |
The suite has two rooms, the master’s bedroom having its own walk-in closet and a snazzy toilet and bath, while the guest room has two single beds and shares the toilet with the living hall.
RAINY DAYS AT SURFERS PARADISE |
We have a total of five days on this part of Australia and we were just glad we stretched our stay here a bit. The weather totally went south when we arrived in Gold Coast and Rhapsody Resort was just the perfect place for a staycation while waiting for the sun to come out.
THE RAGING PACIFIC |
With rain lashing outside and the waves smashing the beach to smithereens, we cozily spent three of our days in Surfers Paradise doing nothing but cook whatever our hearts desired, binging on alcohol, swapping stories, and doing the laundry. Did I mention they have an automatic washing machine? Yes, they do. And we like doing laundry during our trips.
