ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR | Marcian Garden Hotel ~ Luxurious Stay in Zamboanga City
Thursday, November 08, 2018We stayed on a single hotel during our five-day stint in Zamboanga City, the Marcian Garden Hotel along Gov. Camins Road. It was actually my first time to stay on an actual hotel in the city, having previously lodged on a military camp during our quick tour in Zamboanga years back.
BREAKFAST BUFFET AT MARCIAN GARDEN HOTEL |
From the airport, which was just three hundred meters away, we went straight to the hotel for breakfast. They have an everyday buffet. And while the selections aren’t that many, they make up for it with quality—all the dishes I tried were really good.
FOOD TRIPPIN’ IN ZAMBOANGA CITY |
For Muslim brethren, their restaurant is halal certified. I was actually waiting for a morning of bacons, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be—our Zamboanga food trip would really have to make up for it, I told myself. We loaded up some since we’re going straight to the Zamboanga de Regatta to kick off this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
FROM THE HOTEL STRAIGHT TO THE REGATTA DE ZAMBOANGA |
Marcian Garden Hotel, one of the few high-end hotels in Zamboanga City, mixes luxury and the tradition of the Zamboangaños. From its lobby, you can see the colors of vinta sails right beside gilded trimmings, capiz shell chandeliers alongside expensive fixtures and posh furniture.
MASCOTA COMPETITION AT THE PALACIO DEL SUR |
I also like its location, besides being really close to the airport, it’s also walking distance to the Palacio Del Sur, an events place where the annual ZamPEX and Mascota Competition were held. My friends were especially glad of the former since they were able to go back to the trade expo with no hassle to buy a few more products to bring back home.
MARCIAN GARDEN HOTEL SUPERIOR TWIN BEDS |
We were billeted on their Superior Twin Bed, and it was more than decent. Well, I was really expecting more since this is a luxury hotel, but it was alright. It has two beds divided by a bedside table where light controls and electrical outlets are located, a working desk, closet space, coffee and tea-making facilities, mini bar, and the usual flat-screen cable television. Wi-fi connection was fast and reliable—we were actually able to work in between our Zamboanga City tour and our visit to the nearby Once Islas. I also like how each floor has a drinking station where you can refill your water bottles.
TOILET AND BATH |
The toilet and bath is also very decent and adequately spaced—a shower stall separated by glass, toilet with a working bidet, and a wide bathroom counter for all our personal toiletries.
KIDNEY-SHAPED SWIMMING POOL |
The hotel has events and function rooms for conferences, a Muslim prayer room, swimming pool, a spa, and a souvenir shop. For your culinary needs, they also have a bar, restaurant, and a coffee shop. As expected though, their beer prices are rather expensive so we had to resort to a restobar about two minutes away from the hotel for our beer night.
MARCIAN GARDEN HOTEL MAIN ATRIUM |
All in all, our stay at the Marcian Garden Hotel was pleasant and without incident. I would highly recommend this place for those wanting the comforts of a high end hotel in between the airport and the city center.
