When you think of Los Angeles, do you think of Hollywood celebrities, movie producers, giant mansions, and lots of fun? Well, what you believe is real, since this city offers all this and much more.
We want to present to you 10 things to do in Los Angeles in one day, so let's start!
SHOP AT RODEO DRIVE
This world-famous shopping street was designed for well-heeled shoppers and has a lot of high-end designer stores. The stores are located on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard at 9th Street (in front of the Beverly Hills Hotel). You can see some expensive cars parked outside the shops as a sign that everyone wants to get into these places.
STROLL ALONG SANTA MONICA PIER
Just across the street from Beverly Hills lies the famous Santa Monica Pier. It was built in 1872 by New England capitalists who wanted to build a large hotel/casino complex that would attract tourists. Today, it attracts thousands of people every single day. They enjoy watching sunsets, eating fresh seafood, surfing, or simply relaxing when they’re not busy enjoying themselves inside one of the many amusement parks.
WALK ALONG THE BEACH
Do you like nature walks? If so, then head over to the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica. Take a walk along the sand, look out at the vast ocean, feel the cool breeze and breathe in the smell of the sea.
VISIT THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN
One of LA’s most popular attractions is the Hollywood Sign. It is also known as the “Walk in the Clouds” because of its unique shape — an L with two arms pointing up. The Hollywood Sign itself isn’t very tall, only around thirty meters, but the surrounding area is full of hills covered in trees and flowers.
SEE GRIFFITH PARK
This park is situated in Los Angeles's heart. It has huge areas devoted to sports, picnicking, hiking, horse riding, cycling, jogging, and even golf.
TOUR UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
Located just four miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Universal Studios is a film studio where various movies have been made for decades. Have you ever seen the TV show Lost? It was filmed here, and if you visit the set, you will notice how similar it looks to the island from the series.
GO TO GRAUMAN’S CHINESE THEATRE
This theater is often called the "Oscars Theater" after being named after American businessman Sid Grauman. A lot of big stars are laid to rest here, including Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and Humphrey Bogart.
CHECK OUT THE PARAMOUNT PICTURES STUDIOS
Founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor, Paramount Pictures Studios is a major motion picture production company based in California. Their headquarters are located in the Westwood section of Los Angeles. From 1927 to 1982, it was owned by the Krasna family, and since 1983, Paramount has been owned by Viacom International Inc.
VISIT THE GETTY CENTER
This center is one of America’s best art museums. It opened in 1997 and is situated about 12 miles (ca. 19 km) west of downtown Los Angeles. The building was designed by Richard Meier, and the museum contains around 15,000 pieces of modern paintings, sculptures, and drawings.
ENJOY A SUNSET CRUISE ALONG THE COAST
The Pacific Ocean may be great, but there is nothing better than sitting on the deck of a boat looking out at the horizon while listening to some nice tunes. There are plenty of companies that offer sunset cruises, so find one that suits your budget.
