AKLAN | Diniwid Beach ~ Boracay Sunset Beach Without The Crowd
Thursday, December 15, 2022The morning was bright and the sky was cobalt blue in color. Shaded from the morning sun by a huge rock cliff facing the beach, we spread our blue blanket on the sand—laying our toddler’s sand toys right beside it. Completely ignoring his toys, he ran straight towards the waters—us, quickly scrambling to catch up with him. It seems Diniwid Beach’s aquamarine waters has won our son’s heart on first sight.

UNDERSTAND DINIWID BEACH
Diniwid Beach is located at the northern end of Boracay White Beach, with a craggy coral stone hill dividing the two beach from each other. It stretches for about 280 meters, and is actually divided into two by another rock formation that has stone stairs for access.
DINIWID BEACH 1 AND DINIWID BEACH 2 |
Its main stretch—the northern part—is where the accommodations and restaurants in the area are located. It is also where Din-Iwid Road is. Its southern part is faced by a sheer rock wall, and is devoid of any commercial establishments. This is where the path leading to Boracay’s White Beach is located.
FINE SAND UNDERNEATH DINIWID BEACH |
The best time to visit Diniwid Beach is during the Amihan months of October to March. During these times, the water is calm as the winds blow over the other side of the island (see Bulabog Beach).
A LONE ROCK ALONG DINIWID BEACH 2 |
For the purpose of this travel guide, let’s refer to the northern part of the beach as Diniwid Beach 1, and the southern part as Diniwid Beach 2.
HOW TO GET TO DINIWID BEACH
THE PATH FROM WHITE BEACH TO DINIWID BEACH |
Diniwid Beach can be accessed either from the White Beach or via Boracay’s main road.
From the north end of White Beach’s Station One, there is a narrow path that skirts the coral stone cliff that separates White Beach from Diniwid Beach. The trail is paved, but it gets narrower as you pass Lambros Point—the cave-like midpoint that separates the two beaches.
If you don’t want to walk all the way to the end of Station One, you can take an e-tricycle to Diniwid Beach Road [GPS MAP: 11.975377, 121.918456] that would take you to the end of Station One.
The second way to get to Diniwid Beach is via the Boracay Main Road. Its one-kilometer long access road, Din-Iwid Road, can be found at the corner of CityMall Boracay shopping mall [GPS MAP: 11.979450, 121.920389]. If you’re tracking your money savings, it is walkable—about twelve to fifteen minutes away by foot, but if you want to get there faster, there are e-tricycles on the corner of the main road.
WHAT TO SEE & DO IN DINIWID BEACH
KIDS PLAYING AT LAMBROS POINT | THE ROCK FACE AT DINIWID BEACH 2 |
The main draw of Diniwid Beach is obviously its twin beach. While both beaches has fine white sand, Diniwid Beach 1 [GPS MAP: 11.976479, 121.911811] is a bit rocky. Diniwid Beach 2 [GPS MAP: 11.975151, 121.912337] on the other hand has almost zero rocks on its sand. So, for swimming, Diniwid Beach 2 wins by a mile. Also, the sheer rock cliff at beach 2 also provides good shade during the mornings.
ROCKY SHORELINE AT DINIWID BEACH 1 |
The waters of Diniwid Beach has a gradual slope, good for kids and toddlers—just be sure to keep an eye out on them all the time. By the way, it isn’t too gradual as to be unswimmable for grown-ups. It does get deep about five meters from the shore.
LAMBROS POINT DIVIDES THE WHITE BEACH AND DINIWID BEACH |
Another area people flock to at Diniwid Beach is the cave-like hollow at Lambros Point [GPS MAP: 11.974544, 121.912646] which locals dub as the Mother Mary Cave—obviously due to the fact that there’s a Mother Mary statue in it. If you have an ultra-wide camera, you can take a photo with the cave framing the waters of Boracay.
BORACAY’S CROSS OF CHRIST |
The rocky hill that divides Diniwid and White Beach is actually the location of Boracay’s Cross Of Christ [GPS MAP: 11.974837, 121.913498]. I asked a few locals about it, and they said that the big cross is actually a grave marker for one of the island’s original inhabitants. There is, however, no trail that leads up to that cross. To get there, you’d actually have to scramble your way up the hill—which is quite dangerous—but doable. Well, I saw a few locals chilling out at the top of the hill, so I assume it is doable. If you really want to scale this hill, I suggest you ask one of the locals in the area to guide you.
ROCKY SHORELINE OF DINIWID BEACH 1, PERFECT FOR LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY |
Diniwid Beach, faces west, so for those who want to view the sunset without the crowd in Boracay, this is the place to have it. And for landscape photography enthusiasts, the rocky portions along Diniwid Beach 1 can provide good foregrounds to anchor your Boracay sunset photographs.
During our visit, the ubiquitous Boracay crystal kayaks and stand-up paddle board rides are also available in Diniwid Beach.
WHERE TO EAT IN DINIWID BEACH

There aren’t that many restaurants and eateries in Diniwid Beach.
Along beach 1, there are exactly three food places; Mamas Fish House, Ta’gig Boracay Café, and the largest one—DiniBeach Bar & Restaurant. There are a few more along the road leading out of Diniwid Beach, but most of these are budget eateries and carinderias.
SPIDER HOUSE AND BORACAY WEST COVE, DINIWID BEACH BEFORE THE 2018 REHABILITATION |
There used to be an iconic hang-out restobar at the far end of Diniwid Beach, the Spider House, and farther on, the rumored Manny Pacquiao resort that hugs the cliff with a really scenic outdoor restaurant above Diniwid Beach’s rock formations—Boracay West Cove. Both has since been closed and demolished following Boracay’s 2018 rehabilitation.
WHERE TO STAY IN DINIWID BEACH
There are also very limited number of accommodations in Diniwid Beach. But if you’re the kind of traveler that wants to get away from the crowd but still experience a beachfront experience, Diniwid Beach is indeed the place to bunk in while in Boracay.
