METRO MANILA | Seda BGC Weekend Staycation
Monday, February 27, 2023Ever since taking our son to BGC High Street in Taguig for a brief dinner some months back, we’ve always thought of bringing him back for a longer period. We saw just how happy he was with all the open spaces and the activities he can do around. A staycation would be perfect, we thought.
SEDA HOTELS’ 10TH ANNIVERSARY LUNCH CELEBRATION AT SEDA BGC’S STRAIGHT UP ROOFTOP BAR |
Fast forward to December last year, I was invited to a dinner at Seda BGC for their 10th anniversary and a gift certificate for a stay was given as a gift. It was perfect for our February wedding anniversary, my wife and I, thought. And here’s our chance to finally bring our kid back to BGC too!

SEDA WHAT?
THE SIGNATURE GIRAFFE SCULPTURE AT SEDA BGC’S LOBBY |
I have previously stayed with two Seda Hotels before, the first one at the sprawling Seda Nuvali in Laguna, and the other one—nearer to home—at Seda Vertis North in Quezon City. I immensely enjoyed both stays, and on the latter, my wife and I were even able to bring our moms with us for a weekend staycation.
SEDA BGC’S LOBBY AREA |
Named after the Filipino word for silk, Seda is an Ayala-owned chain of four-star urban lifestyle hotels. It now has a total of eleven hotels spread across the Philippines—from Metro Manila, Laguna, Palawan, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, to Cagayan De Oro, and Davao.
OUR ROOM
SEDA BGC’S DELUXE ROOM |
Seda BGC has a total of 521 guest rooms divided into two wings, with eight room types; Deluxe, Executive Deluxe, Club Room, Suite, Executive Suite, and Seda Suite.
OUR ROOM FOR THREE DAYS IN BGC |
We were billeted at Seda BGC’s most affordable room, their Deluxe Room. Its thirty square-meter space can accommodate up to three adults or two adults plus two kids—additional guests are, of course, subject to additional fees, though it is free for kids below six years old. A, can get in for free, so, yay for that!
CELEBRATING OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT SEDA BGC WITH OUR SON, A |
Our room sports a comfy king-bed (can be swapped with two twin beds) complemented by an alcove seat by the window which can function as a nap area. It overlooks Serendra, and further on, the Laguna de Bay. It has the usual 40-inch flatsceen TV, coffee and tea-making facilities, electronic safe, mini bar, and a work desk.
ALCOVE SEAT BY THE WINDOW |
The TV has an easy-access media panel near the work desk, so it’s easy to plug in your laptop or portable USB drives to watch downloaded movies or even Netflix. This is especially helpful since their cable channels are a tad limited—we actually had a hard time finding a channel apt for a toddler since the only kid-friendly one was Boomerang—which isn’t really fit for A yet, so we had to settle for the Aquarium Channel for the duration of our stay, lol.
CLEAN AND SPACIOUS TOILET & BATH WITH HOT WATER |
The en suite toilet and bath is spacious and has hot shower. I like the fact that they have an electronic weighing scale, since I’m trying to keep track of my weight. On the downside, as with both Seda Hotels I’ve stayed in, I really wish they have a bidet.
LOVING THE INTERIOR DESIGN OF SEDA BGC’S ROOM |
The room is more than adequate for us; it is spacious, the bed is uber comfortable, the air-conditioning is just right, the black-out curtains are perfect, and when opened—the view is picturesque. I especially like our room’s interior design—modern without being bare; natural textures, earthy colors, and geometry echoing Piet Mondrian’s iconic paintings.
SEDA BGC AMENITIES ~ POOL, GYM, FUNCTION HALLS
SEDA BGC’S SWIMMING POOL AT THE SECOND FLOOR |
When not in our room, we can usually be found at the second floor swimming pool. It’s also where two of its three events rooms are, and so’s the gym.
BG AND A AT THE SEDA BGC KIDDIE POOL |
The pool, which is shared by both Seda BGC wings, has an area for kids with a depth of two feet—perfect for our son, and a regular pool four feet deep. Some areas are covered with a roof, convenient for people not wanting to expose their porcelain skin to the sun. It also stretches for quite a bit, about 17 meters, more than enough for my usual pool laps.
GYM AT SEDA BGC, LOVE THE BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT GRACE ITS WALLS |
I originally planned on also hitting the gym, but since the hotel is just a hop away from good jogging parks in BGC, I decided to pass off. The only times I went inside it was to take pictures and to refill my water bottle, lol.
FOOD AT MISTO RESTAURANT & STRAIGHT UP ROOFTOP BAR
SIX A.M. AT MISTO AT SEDA BGC, BEFORE THE CROWD HITS |
A complimentary breakfast buffet can be availed at Seda BGC upon booking, although if you’re really not into buffets, you can also remove it to shave a few hundred pesos off their rates. Our stay included breakfast at Misto, their in-house restaurant. And as with our previous Seda experience, it did not disappoint.
PASTRY STATION AT MISTO SEDA BGC |
Seda BGC’s breakfast buffet is loaded, they have an assortment of breads and pastries, fresh fruits, and salads; Pinoy breakfast faves like lugaw, champorado, dangits, tawilis; Western fares like sausages, bacons, hashbrowns, and pancakes; dedicated noodle soup and omelet stations; and for rice lovers, they usually serve a couple of Filipino fares like bistek to pair it with. I especially love their Indian offerings, roti and curries, yum! And oh yeah, their coffee is really good too.
OUR BREAKFAST SPREAD |
A tip, if you like your bacons, ask to be seated near where it’s located, as it usually runs out about two minutes after being served.
NOODLE STATION AT SEDA BGC MISTO |
Misto does get really busy during breakfast, so be sure to wake early especially if you’re staying during weekends, the queue during both times we ate were quite long. Late risers need not fret though, as they do accommodate everyone on the line even if it’s already past breakfast hours of 6:00AM to 10:00AM.
EXECUTIVE LOUNGE AND STRAIGHT UP ROOFTOP BAR AT SEDA BGC |
We were unable to try Seda BGC’s Straight Up Rooftop Bar. It used to be located on the original wing, but has now transferred to the hotel’s newer wing. Nevertheless, I was able to visit and dine here during the hotel’s anniversary a couple of months back. The view is really nice, especially on the outdoor area. It’s surpassed only by the food they serve—which is outstandingly good.
SEDA BGC’S CENTRAL LOCATION
THE VIEW FROM SEDA BGC’S ROOFTOP |
The best part about staying in Seda BGC is, really, its location. It sits literally right beside where it’s happening—the BGC High Street. Also within striking distance is Serendra, and farther on, Market! Market! Mall.
GROCERIES & SUPERMARKETS NEAR SEDA BGC |
If you need supplies for your stay, there are a couple of groceries nearby—The Landmark Supermarket and Metro at Market! Market!. We tried both, and these are not mini marts at all, these are full-scale call-your-mom-for-what-she-needs supermarkets.
RESTAURANTS AROUND SEDA BGC |
You also wouldn’t run out of restaurants and bars to eat and drink in. BGC High Street alone has all the popular food joints in the Metro—and you can explore further along BGC’s side streets if you want to avoid the crowd.
TRACK 30TH, ONE OF THE PARKS NEAR SEDA BGC |
For fitness buffs, there are three jogging areas within the vicinity of the hotel—Track 30th Park, BGC High Street, and Terra 28th Park. If you like a longer walk, the 1.2-kilometer long BGC Greenway Park—which is really, really nice—is also within walking distance, in fact that’s where I usually do my morning workout.
OUR SON ENJOYING THE HUBBUB OF ACTIVITIES AT BGC HIGH STREET |
And finally, the reason why we chose Seda BGC is because of our kid. The fun he had playing all weekend long over the numerous parks, open areas, roads-turned-to-weekend-playgrounds in BGC was priceless. A weekend well-spent, indeed. Exactly what we came here for.
