Having tried the cheapest food in Boracay during our three-week stay on the island, we decided to splurge a bit during the latter part of our trip. And splurge to us meant buffet, a proper Boracay buffet. We looked at the options, most of which are found on Boracay White Beach, and decided to be a bit modest with our food splurge. We chose a buffet that’s not too expensive, but is still a feast for the eyes—and of course, our tummies.

ABOUT HENANN SEA BREEZE CAFÉ’S BUFFET
Henann Regency Resort’s Sea Breeze Café is one of the five Henann resorts that offer daily walk-in buffets in Boracay. It appears to be the most popular too, not only because of its location, which fronts Station 2 of Boracay White Beach, but also because of its competitive price. I say competitive, since we found a more affordable buffet in Boracay along the same area.

When we went there a few months ago, the price for their lunch buffet was at ₱699.00 per head. And it hasn’t changed, their current rate is still the same for a lunch buffet (12:00NN to 2:30PM), ₱949.00 for a dinner buffet during Mondays to Thursdays, and ₱999.00 for weekend dinner buffet from Fridays to Sundays (5:30PM to 9:00PM). Kids up to four years old are free of charge, while those from five to nine years of age are charged half rates.
THE RESTAURANT
Being located right in front of Boracay White Beach, Sea Breeze Café lives up to its name—they have no air-conditioning, opting instead for the fresh sea breeze from the sea.

The restaurants is spacious, it can comfortably seat more than 300 people on four distinct dining areas—the front beach area, the main hall, the poolside hall, and the al fresco pool side tables. Sea Breeze Café isn’t dubbed as the biggest buffet restaurant in Boracay for nothing. We, of course, took the beach tables. Go early if you want to get these seats.

The décor is typical of Henann resorts, modern clean whites with a touch of tropical and Filipino motifs. It looks classy without being bare and intimidating.

An acoustic duo serenades diners all through the buffet hours. I can understand the appeal, but I kinda feel it to be somewhat in contrast to Sea Breeze Café’s chic ambience.
THE FOOD
Henann Sea Breeze Café’s buffet offerings changes daily. When we went, they were serving a mix of mostly Filipino and Western dishes divided into appetizers, pastries, salads, Filipino street food, soups, Asian stir-fried dishes, and desserts. For the main courses, they have seven Western and three Filipino dishes consisting of pork, chicken, beef, and vegetable fares.

To be honest, most of their main dishes were just so-so for me. If I’d have to choose, I guess their roasted chicken americaine seafood halabos, and beef tender medallion in boulguigonon would be my pick.

What did stand out for me at Sea Breeze Café’s buffet were their side dishes. Some of the appetizers that made its mark on me were their shrimp shawarma, Dutch egg roll, cold cuts, and both seafood and four cheese pizzas.

Their Filipino Street Food Station was also a hit with me, although, to be honest, this is probably not the best way to eat through an expensive buffet since you can get these on the streets cheaply. But I just can’t resist getting plates of lumpiang Shanghai, lobster balls, fried dilis, siomai dimsums, tukneneng, and longganisa and chicken teriyaki skewers.

I also adore their Asian Stir Fry Station, which serves beef, pork, chicken, fish, and shrimp. But not because of those, forget all that, they have freshly cooked pork sisig. And you can put your eggs in or lather it in mayonnaise, without anyone judging you for it.

My wife and kid told me their desserts were also great, but I left no room for such sweet nonsense. And I’m happy and contented with my decision. Alright, I found a wee little bit of space for some of ice cream too, lol.
