AKLAN | The Lind Boracay Dinner Review
Monday, May 22, 2023A feast of feast was spread across our long table—familiar Filipino dishes but dressed nicer than your usual meal at home. The table was set outside The Lind’s Tartine Restaurant—along Boracay White Beach’s premier location, Station 1—but no one seems to be minding the banquet. The sun was setting and everyone had rushed to the shore to take photos of the famous Boracay sunset.
THE LIND BORACAY DINNER EXPERIENCE REVIEW WHAT’S INSIDE? • The Lind Boracay • Tartine Restaurant • The Food • The Verdict • BORACAY TRAVEL GUIDE |
THE LIND BORACAY RESORT
The Lind Boracay is one of the most luxurious resorts, not only in Boracay White Beach, but the whole of Boracay. Located at the far end of Station 1, it’s situated on one of the quieter parts of the island. It is also near Lambros Point, the access way to another secluded beach—Diniwid Beach.
THE LIND BORACAY’S BEAUTIFUL POOL AREA |
Rated as a five-star resort, The Lind has more than a hundred rooms—each with its own balcony—swimming pools, a fitness center, spa, kid’s playroom, and three in-house restaurants. And it’s on one of these restaurants that we decided to spend our dinner on.
TARTINE RESTAURANT
The Lind Boracay’s Tartine restaurant is located at the resort’s beach front and is open for walk-in guests. Named after the French open-faced sandwiched, the resort claims that it reflects the resto’s elaborate spreads, which is an ode to the well-curated variety of culinary offers of The Lind Boracay. They serve Western, Asian, and Filipino fares.
The restaurant’s open plan is expansive and the interior is tastefully decorated—light earth tones and whites that goes well with Boracay’s beach vibe. There is no AC, but the cross breeze from the beach to the pool area is more than enough to cool the place down.
AFTERNOON COCKTAILS AT THE LIND BORACAY’S BEACHFRONT |
There’s ample al fresco seats by the beach—which doesn’t cross over to the public area—that it was easy enough for us to secure a table. And well, yes, we booked ahead—although, there were a lot of empty seats when we arrived.
THE FOOD
BBQ PIZZA, FRIES, AND COCKTAILS |
Since we went hours before dinner, we first had a few cocktails and snacks to while away the time. Also, they have a happy hour, dubbed as The Lind Hours, which runs from four to seven in the evening. Cocktails are on a buy one take one promo, so why not. We paired our drinks with a some pizza, fries, and onion rings.
We all agreed that their snacks were just okay. Their BBQ chicken pizza was really good though.
CHEERS TO POST-PANDEMIC TRAVELS! |
By sunset, our dinner spread was almost complete. We took our sweet time to take a few photos of the setting sun along White Beach before feasting on it.
THE TEAM RH GANG |
We were ten in the group—including a toddler—so, our spread was understandably massive. For Filipino dishes, we ordered adobo sa gata, crispy pata, beef caldereta, lechon kawali, kilawin, and bulalo for soup. We also added a Balinese nasi goreng and Singaporean chili crispy chicken to spice things up a bit.
FINAL THOUGHTS
THE WINNERS, CHICKEN ADOBO SA GATA AND SINGAPOREAN CHILI CRISPY CHICKEN |
Everyone on the group agreed that everything was just okay—they’re totally not bad, but they’re also nothing to write home about. However, considering how expensive they are, it was a bit of a let down.
The few exceptions were their Singaporean chili crispy chicken, which I totally dig—though it wasn’t as spicy as I imagined it to be, and their chicken adobo sa gata which is very uniquely done—with the whole spring chicken fried, the sarsa mixed with gata, and topped with a poached egg.
WE FOUND A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN OUR BULALO SOUP |
We also didn’t like the fact that we found a piece of plastic in the bulalo soup. Our waiter was very sorry for it—saying it was part of the plastic they cover the bowl to keep it warm. When we reported it to their management, they were quite unapologetic about it—saying they will investigate the matter further. They eventually gave us a lunch voucher, which we didn’t bother to accept.
THE REQUISITE GROUP SHOT |
To be honest, we really wouldn’t have chosen to eat here if not for our friend who treated the whole gang to dinner—celebrating our first time traveling together since the pandemic hit. I mean, we have eaten at some of the cheapest restaurants in Boracay, and our idea of a splurge is a Boracay buffet—The Lind’s prohibitive prices isn’t really within our reach.
But all in all, we still enjoyed our dinner experience at The Lind Boracay, but it was more the company and location rather than the food.
