RESORTS WORLD CRUISES | 28 THINGS TO DO IN RESORTS WORLD ONE CRUISE
Monday, July 03, 2023Joining a cruise is never boring. It’s my fourth time to travel on a cruise ship and I still get excited every time. During our four-day cruise from Hong Kong to Taiwan aboard the Resorts World One cruise ship, I never ran out of things to do.
But if you’re still not convinced about joining a cruise, here’s an extensive list of things you can do while aboard Resorts World Cruises’ Resorts World One. This is particularly helpful while on high seas, en route to your destination, since there’s not much you can see but the endless blue sea.
BOOK RESORTS WORLD ONE CRUISE
Book a cruise through the official website or through Resorts World Cruises Philippines Senior Sales Manager, Andrea Manzano (andrea.manzano@rwcruises.com).
1. GO SWIMMING
THE PARTHENON POOL |
The main attraction of Resorts World One, or any cruise ship for that matter, is its top deck pool. Resorts World One has a pretty big—relative to cruise ship size standard—Greek-themed outdoor swimming pool on its 12th deck. The Parthenon Pool is, if I remember correctly, about four feet deep, so it’s pretty safe even for big kids and teens.
OPENING HOURS: 8:00AM to 10:00PM
2. RIDE A SLIDE
CAESAR’S SLIDE BESIDE THE PARTHENON POOL |
Right beside the Parthenon Pool is the Caesar’s Slide, a water slide that loops around the pool. The exciting part about it are the transparent panels that hangs past the ship’s body, making it appear you’re sliding out to the ocean. The slide, however, does not splash down to the pool, which is understandable due to the limited real estate of the ship.
OPENING HOURS: 8:00AM to 10:00PM
3. RELAX ON A JACUZZI
ONE OF THE FOUR HOT TUBS |
There are four hot tubs situated on the corners of the pool. Each one can accommodate at least four guests. This is perfect for relaxing, or even watching live bands on the pool stage.
OPENING HOURS: 8:00AM to 10:00PM
4. WATCH MOVIES
ENTRANCE TO THE ZODIAC THEATER |
Zodiac Theater, an 800-seat capacity auditorium shows movies during the day. The Grand Piazza’s huge screen at the lobby also screen movies at selected times. During our cruise trip, they screened Godzilla vs. Kong, The Water Horse Legend Of The Deep, among other films.
OPENING HOURS: Check daily schedule
5. WATCH THE EVENING THEATER SHOWS
ONE OF THE THREE SHOWS WE WATCHED, MESMERISE |
Theater shows replace movies during the evenings at Zodiac Theater. They usually do two of the same shows at night, the first at 7:15 PM, and the second at 9:00 PM, lasting for about an hour each. During our four-day cruise, we saw three productions—Crew Show, a song and dance show featuring the Resorts World One’s very own crew; Love Matters, a dating game featuring actual cruise guests; and Mesmerise, a Las Vegas-style dance and magic production. These are all free, with no advance booking required.
OPENING HOURS: 7:00PM Onwards
6. PLAY ARCADE AND VR GAMES
ONE OF THE ARCADE GAMES AT ESC EXPERIENCE LAB |

If cocktails aren’t your thing, Palm Court also has shelves full of books you can borrow.

15. SEE THE SHIP’S BRIDGE
THE CAPTAIN’S OBSERVATION LOUNGE |
Down a spiral staircase from the Palm Court is a viewing room for the Captain’s Observation Lounge. You can actually see the whole control center of Resorts World One from here. And yes, you can take pictures. Besides ogling at the guys manning the bridge, the room also houses some plaques, awards, and information about the ship.
OPENING HOURS: 10:00AM to 2:00AM
16. LET THE KIDS PLAY
A KID PLAYING AT THE LITTLE DREAMERS CLUB |
Little kids will definitely enjoy a couple of hours at the Little Dreamers Club for free—there is a charge after two hours. Besides the playground and the multitude of toys, they also host games, kids’ workshops, and costume parties—heck, there’s even a mini DJ booth for kids. I also saw a kids playground at the top deck of the ship, although it seems to be under renovation when we sailed.
OPENING HOURS: 09:00AM to 11:30AM, 2:00PM to 6:00PM, 7:00PM to 11:30PM
17. GO RUNNING
JOGGING TRACK AT THE TOP DECK OF RESORTS WORLD ONE |
There’s a running / jogging / walking track at the top deck of the ship that goes around the mid-area to the rear or stern of the ship. If you want a longer route, you can even level up your workout by taking a few steps up to the ship’s bow. You don’t get to go jogging with the sea as your backdrop every day.
OPENING HOURS: 24 Hours
18. HIT THE GYM
RESORTS WORLD ONE GYM |
Resorts World One has a fully equipped gym near the Parthenon Pool. If swimming or running is not your thing, then there’s the gym to help ease your daily buffet intake.

19. SWIM AT THE ENDLESS POOLS
TWO ENDLESS POOLS FOR WORKING OUT
If you feel that the Parthenon Pool is too short for your swimming workout, Resorts World One has Endless Pools. These are small pools with adjustable controls for water current—thus, you can swim without interruption sans the need for an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
20. PLAY BASKETBALL
TOPSIDE BASKETBALL COURT |
Go shoot by yourself or play hoops with your friends at the SportsPlex. Resorts World One has a full basketball court at the top deck of the ship.
OPENING HOURS: 10:00AM to 8:00PM
21. GO GET A HAIRCUT
RESORTS WORLD ONE HAIR SALON |
If by some chance, you forgot to take a haircut before boarding the cruise or you simply want to have your hair done, then the hair salon inside the ship is perfect for you. THE SEAFOOD GRIL BAR AREA |
One of the best places to have a beer—or cocktails or even wine—at Resorts World One is at the Seafood Grill at the top deck of the ship. Have a beer al fresco, eat your barbecue, while having the best view.
OPENING HOURS: 12:00NN to 2:00PM, 5:00PM to 8:30PM
26. WATCH AS THE SHIP ARRIVE & DEPART FROM PORTS
A VIEW OF PENGHU DURING RESORTS WORLD ONE’S DEPARTURE |
One of my favorite things to do on a cruise is to watch as the ship depart and arrive on ports at the top-most deck. It is the most interesting part of the cruise, especially if it coincides during the evenings, when the port glows with the surrounding harbor city lights. Best with a bottle of beer too.
SCHEDULE: Check daily schedule
27. TAKE SELFIES
MY ROOMMATE, MIKYLE QUIZON, POSING CANDIDLY FOR A PHOTO |
You simply cannot not take selfies while on board a cruise ship. I should know, I rarely ask to have my picture taken, but for this trip, I just had to have a few. This is the penultimate travel luxury. So bring your Insta-worthy clothes with you, and take hundreds of selfies aboard Resorts World One. Or better yet, bring a friend and snap each other’s photos.
28. EXPLORE THE DESTINATIONS
SHORE EXCURSION TO TAIWAN’S PENGHU COUNTY |
And the most interesting to do while on a cruise, is to alight and explore the cities you visit. This can be done via packaged tours or shore excursions, or it can also be done DIY. Or, you can do a hybrid of these two, do it DIY, but book a tour via third party online travel agencies like Klook. But whatever way you do it, just make you to be back on the ship at the agreed time, lest you get left behind.
During our cruise we joined these shorex:
• Resorts World Cruises Shore Excursion Kaohsiung
• Resorts World Cruises Shore Excursion Penghu
